Helping pass good laws

Dapwood Furniture was in Santa Fe on January 30th, 2012 with the New Mexico Green Chamber to learn about our legislative process and talk with our elected officials about the importance of several bills being heard in committees.   Dapwood is most interested in seeing Benefit Corporation legislation getting passed. This legislation would create a new type of corporation in New Mexico where shareholder profits are not the only focus of a company. A Benefit […]

New Year starts with a blackout?

Coming out of the holiday break we were unfortunately targeted for a copper wire heist. Thieves decided that breaking into a transformer and cutting live wires was worth the lure of $60 in scrap metal. For us it meant no power to run equipment, no work for our employees, unknown hours wasted on phone calls, some late orders and overall….anger on my part. It is one of my fundamental principles in life to respect one […]

Awards Luncheon update

Well, we unfortunately didn’t win the New Mexico Business Weekly’s award this year but we were happy to see that well deserving non-profits Adelante  and Roadrunner Food Bank did get the award.  While we were disappointed, it was still an honor to be selected out of over 100 applications. We are re-energized to continue our mission of sustainability….and for making it to the top next year. Overall the experience was a great one for all of […]

Stop buying crap

I was struggling with how to explain that we make great furniture that is built to last. To do this I was thinking of a spreadsheet with graphs comparing cheap products replaced many times versus a higher initial cost product that doesn’t need to be replaced. In the end I decided that approach was too left brained and doomed for failure. In any case, I came across this post from a few years ago and […]
